UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON TACOMA
CAMPUS MAP
The University of Washington 3D Campus Map as it exists with the current available data in comparison to the reality of the campus footprint.
These models were created within ArcScene software by extruding elevation data. Buildings are set upon Orthophotos and LiDAR data of the downtown Tacoma area.
Figures 1-3: The University of Washington 3D campus map after the original data was fixed. In comparison to the original data (Figure 4 & 5), building heights are more similar to the reality, footprint shapes have more detail, and five new buildings are added.

Figure 3: Buildings that were not included in the original data are symbolized in yellow with the exception of the Whitney building (27) which, like others, had to be characterized with a yellow-bordered black box due to the nature of its size/to improve visibility.

Figure 4: Buildings that were not included in the original data are symbolized in purple and buildings which had footprints that required modification are symbolized in red.
These footprints were manually digitized and approximate height data were inputted into the resulting shape. The approximate height was determined through the act of comparing values (for instance) of two connected buildings of the same height, visual ground truthing, and calculating difference between All Returns and Bare Earth data.
